What is staking?
Staking RUNE means locking your tokens with a THORChain node to help secure the network and earn a share of its rewards. On THORChain this works through bonding: you delegate RUNE to a node operator as a Bond Provider and earn real yield from protocol fees, proportional to your share of the node's total bond.
How do I earn rewards?
You earn real-yield from fees collected by THORChain. The more RUNE you Stake, the more rewards you can earn, proportional to your share of the node's total Stake.
Can I Unstake?
Yes, but only when the Node Operator opens an unstaking window. There's no formal request — you can unstake your RUNE freely only during that time frame. Outside of those windows, unstaking is not possible. This mechanism ensures the security and stability of the staked node.
Are there risks?
The main risk is if a node misbehaves, it can be slashed, which means a portion of staked RUNE could be lost. That's why choosing a reliable node operator is crucial.
