Before you swap from Keplr

  • Staked ATOM cannot be swapped until it is unbonded, and unbonding on the Cosmos Hub takes weeks. Only the liquid balance in Keplr can go into a swap.
  • Send from the Cosmos Hub account in Keplr. ATOM that has moved to another Cosmos chain over IBC shows up there under that chain, and it has to come back to the Hub first.
  • Leave a little ATOM or RUNE for the network fee of the transaction you approve in Keplr.

Price on large amounts

Large swaps can get a slightly worse price and take longer than small ones. The widget shows the expected price impact and time before you confirm.

Refunds

If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the address they came from, minus network fees. Send from a wallet you control, never from an exchange.

Wrong destination address

The coins go to the address you enter, and it must belong to the network of the coin you receive. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed: check the address before you confirm.

Confirmation time

The swap starts once the network of the coin you send confirms your transaction, so the total time depends on that network. The widget shows the estimate for your amount.

Frequently asked questions

Can I swap ATOM to bitcoin from Keplr?

Yes. You send ATOM from the Cosmos Hub account in Keplr and receive native BTC on the Bitcoin network, at a Bitcoin address you control. It is real bitcoin, not a wrapped token on a Cosmos chain.

Can I swap my staked ATOM?

Not while it is staked. Staked ATOM has to be unbonded first, which takes weeks on the Cosmos Hub and earns no rewards in the meantime. Only the ATOM that shows as available in Keplr can be swapped.

Can I get ATOM back into Keplr from bitcoin or ether?

Yes. Put the coin you hold on the sending side, choose ATOM to receive and paste the Cosmos Hub address of your Keplr account as the destination. Use your own address, not an exchange deposit address that needs a memo.

Does RUNEBond get access to my Keplr wallet?

No. Connecting only lets the widget read your address and ask Keplr for a signature. The keys never leave Keplr, nothing moves until you sign, and RUNEBond never holds your coins.
