Swap Zcash (ZEC) from your own wallet, no KYC

You can swap Zcash in either direction without an exchange account: send another coin from your wallet and receive native ZEC at your own Zcash address, or send ZEC and receive another coin on its own network. No sign-up, no ID check, and you sign every step yourself.

People swap into ZEC to hold a coin with a fixed 21 million supply and optional shielded transactions, and swap out of it to rebalance or to pay somewhere that does not take ZEC. Exchange listings for ZEC come and go, and differ from one country to the next; a swap between wallets does not depend on any of them.

About Zcash (ZEC)

Zcash (ZEC) is a cryptocurrency launched in 2016 and built from Bitcoin’s code, with the same fixed supply of 21 million coins. What sets it apart is the shielded transaction: using zero-knowledge proofs, it can be verified as valid without showing the sender, the receiver or the amount. Transparent Zcash transactions work like Bitcoin ones, with everything visible on-chain.

ZEC lives on its own chain, and several exchanges have stopped listing it over the years. A native cross-chain swap moves it in or out from your own wallet, with no exchange account and no wrapped token in between.

Zcash produces a block roughly every seventy-five seconds, so a swap from ZEC starts shortly after your transaction is confirmed, and ZEC sent to you shows up soon after the swap completes.

How to get or swap ZEC

  1. 1

Pick the side you start from. To get ZEC, choose the coin you hold as the input (the widget starts on bitcoin; switch it to any coin it lists). To leave ZEC, put ZEC on the input side and choose what you want to receive.

  2. 2

Have the receiving address ready, in a wallet you control on the network of the coin you receive. A Zcash wallet can show more than one kind of address; the widget checks the one you paste before you confirm.

  3. 3

Enter the amount and read the quote: what you should receive, the cost and the estimated time, all before you sign anything.

  4. 4

Connect the wallet that holds the coin you send, confirm, and follow the status until the coins arrive. When you send ZEC, make sure it sits in a balance your Zcash wallet can send from, because a refund goes back to the address it left.

Getting ZEC and leaving it are different jobs. Getting it only needs a Zcash address to receive at: you do not need to hold any ZEC beforehand. Leaving it needs the ZEC in a balance your wallet can spend from, and an address on the network of the coin you want.

Why swap ZEC this way

No KYC, no sign-up

No account, no email and no identity check. Connect your wallet and swap.

Decentralized and non-custodial

Your funds never sit with RUNEBond or with an exchange. You sign in your own wallet and receive at your own address.

Native coins across chains

Real BTC in, real coins out on their own chains. No wrapped tokens and no IOUs.

Track every step

Know where your swap is at every moment: sent, confirmed, in progress, delivered. No guessing and no support tickets to find out.

Before you swap

  • A Zcash wallet can hold a transparent balance and a shielded one, and funds can move between them. Check that the ZEC you plan to swap sits in a balance your wallet can send from before you start.
  • Send from a wallet you control, not from an exchange withdrawal: if the swap is refunded, the ZEC goes back to the address it came from.
  • Receive ZEC on the Zcash network itself. A ZEC token issued on another network is not the same destination.

Price on large amounts

Large swaps can get a slightly worse price and take longer than small ones. The widget shows the expected price impact and time before you confirm.

Refunds

If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the address they came from, minus network fees. Send from a wallet you control, never from an exchange.

Wrong destination address

The coins go to the address you enter, and it must belong to the network of the coin you receive. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed: check the address before you confirm.

Confirmation time

The swap starts once the network of the coin you send confirms your transaction, so the total time depends on that network. The widget shows the estimate for your amount.

Frequently asked questions

Which coins can I swap Zcash for?

Any coin the widget lists at the moment you swap, each delivered on its own network. We also have step-by-step guides for swapping Zcash with bitcoin in both directions.

Do I need a shielded or a transparent Zcash address?

Use the receiving address your Zcash wallet gives you. The widget checks the address before you confirm and does not let you send to one it cannot deliver to. Either way, the swap itself is public on the blockchains it touches.

What happens to my ZEC if an exchange stops listing it?

ZEC in your own wallet stays yours whatever any exchange lists. A delisting affects balances held on that exchange and its trading pairs, which is why holders often withdraw to their own wallet when one is announced. Swapping from your wallet does not depend on any exchange listing.

Are ZEC tokens on other networks the same as Zcash?

No. A token that represents ZEC on another network is a claim on ZEC held somewhere else, and it depends on whoever issued it. A swap here delivers native ZEC on the Zcash network itself, to an address you control.

How do I know how much ZEC I get?

The widget quotes it for your exact amount before you sign, including the cost and the estimated time. There is no fixed rate: ZEC and the coin you swap it with each have their own market price, and large amounts can get a slightly worse price.
