Swap XRP without an exchange: from wallet to wallet, no KYC
You can swap XRP, the coin many people call Ripple, without an exchange: send a coin from your own wallet and receive native XRP at your own XRP Ledger address, or send XRP and receive a coin on another blockchain. There is no account, no ID check and no deposit step, and you sign each transaction yourself.
- No KYC
- Non-custodial
- Cross-chain
- Native assets
People swap into XRP to pay or settle on a network known for fast confirmations, and out of it to hold bitcoin, ether or other coins that XRP wallets cannot store. Doing it wallet to wallet skips the usual loop of depositing at an exchange, waiting for a trade and withdrawing again.
About XRP
XRP is the native currency of the XRP Ledger, a public blockchain where validators agree on the order and outcome of transactions every three to five seconds through a consensus protocol instead of mining. Payments settle fast, and the ledger also hosts tokens issued by other parties.
XRP on the XRP Ledger is the coin itself. A token that represents XRP on another network is a claim on XRP held somewhere else; a native cross-chain swap delivers the real coin to an XRP Ledger address you control.
The XRP Ledger agrees on the order and outcome of transactions every three to five seconds, so a swap from XRP starts almost as soon as you sign, and XRP sent to you is confirmed moments after it leaves.
How to get or swap XRP
- 1
Decide the direction. To get XRP, set the coin you hold as the input and XRP as the output (the widget starts on bitcoin as the input; change it to any coin it lists). To leave XRP, put XRP on the input side and pick the coin you want.
- 2
Prepare an XRP Ledger address you control if you are receiving XRP. A new address only comes into existence once it receives the reserve the network requires, so the first amount you receive has to cover it.
- 3
Enter the amount and read the quote before signing: what you should receive, the cost and the estimated time.
- 4
Connect the wallet that holds the coin you send and approve the transaction. If you are sending XRP, remember that the reserve stays locked in your address and cannot be part of the amount.
Most XRP is bought and sold at exchanges, where the coins first have to be deposited under your name. Skipping that step changes what you need to prepare: a receiving address on the right network, and a wallet that can sign for the coin you send.
If you hold XRP in a wallet that only speaks the XRP Ledger, a swap is also the way to move value onto other blockchains without opening an account anywhere.
Why swap XRP this way
No KYC, no sign-up
No account, no email and no identity check. Connect your wallet and swap.
Decentralized and non-custodial
Your funds never sit with RUNEBond or with an exchange. You sign in your own wallet and receive at your own address.
Native coins across chains
Real BTC in, real coins out on their own chains. No wrapped tokens and no IOUs.
Track every step
Know where your swap is at every moment: sent, confirmed, in progress, delivered. No guessing and no support tickets to find out.
Before you swap
- Every XRP Ledger address must hold a minimum amount of XRP, the reserve the network sets. You cannot send the last part of your balance, and a brand new address only exists once it receives at least that amount.
- Exchanges use one shared XRP address for many customers and tell them apart with a destination tag. Receive XRP at an address of your own instead, so no tag is needed and nothing depends on an exchange crediting you.
- Send from a wallet you control, not from an exchange withdrawal: if the swap is refunded, the XRP goes back to the address it came from.
Price on large amounts
Large swaps can get a slightly worse price and take longer than small ones. The widget shows the expected price impact and time before you confirm.
Refunds
If a swap cannot be completed, the coins are refunded to the address they came from, minus network fees. Send from a wallet you control, never from an exchange.
Wrong destination address
The coins go to the address you enter, and it must belong to the network of the coin you receive. Blockchain transactions cannot be reversed: check the address before you confirm.
Confirmation time
The swap starts once the network of the coin you send confirms your transaction, so the total time depends on that network. The widget shows the estimate for your amount.

Frequently asked questions
Can I swap XRP without using an exchange?
Yes. A swap from your wallet sends your coin and delivers the other one to an address you give, so no exchange account or deposit is involved. Your own wallet signs the transaction and the coins never sit with a third party.
Do I need a destination tag to receive XRP?
Destination tags are used when many customers share one address, as at an exchange. An address that only you control does not need one, so receive XRP at your own address and leave the tag empty.
Why can I not swap my whole XRP balance?
The XRP Ledger requires every address to keep a minimum amount of XRP, the reserve. That part of the balance cannot be sent, so the most you can swap is the balance minus the reserve.
Is the XRP I receive the same as XRP on other networks?
A swap here delivers native XRP on the XRP Ledger. A token that stands for XRP on another network is a claim on XRP held elsewhere and depends on whoever issued it.
Which coins can I swap XRP for?
Any coin the widget lists when you swap, each delivered on its own network. You can send XRP and receive, for example, bitcoin in a Bitcoin wallet, as long as the pair appears in the quote.
Is XRP the same as Ripple?
No. Ripple is a company that works with the XRP Ledger, and XRP is the native coin of that ledger, which runs independently of any company. Many people search for the coin as Ripple, but what you swap and receive here is XRP itself.
